It was midafternoon and the sun was at it's brightest. The light of the sun glared down at two Nobodies taking a small break from their hunt to find Max. They both sat on bar seats waiting for their sea salt ice cream while they discussed the next course of action they were planning to take.
"Xahssa, when are we going back to Braxyd?" Xahnan asked, nervously glancing around at the other patrons. Other than the confused looks at the heavy looking coats, none had spared them a second glance.
"Once we find Max." Xahssa explained patiently. "I promised Braxyd we wouldn't come back until we found her. He thought it'd be safer if we went on without him. He believes that Max can sense him, like he often feels her presence at times."
Xahnan frowned at this. "Why can't we sense the other Organization members then?" The young man at the counter handed them their ice cream. Xahssa stared at hers for a moment, remembering the last time she was there with Max.
"It's something with their programming. You remember when you fixed Braxyd's programming so he wouldn't hurt Max? Well, there's probably still a special connection between the two, I just don't know what though." She frowned at her ice cream, a million possibilities racing through her mind.
"Hmm. . ." Xahnan looked around again. "When is she coming?" Rolling her eyes, the other muttered, "I don't know. I hope that she'll take her time."
The orange-haired Nobody looked at her companion with a confused look. "One will work fine, two will work efficiently but three will only slow things down. Not only that, but knowing Max and Braxyd, they probably won't like the fact that there's a new kid on the block. I know I don't. Especially since she wants my rank."
Xahssa scowled at the half-finished ice cream. "This tastes like crap." That was a lie. She didn't have the heart to finish it, what with the memory of Max scarfing down her ice cream flashing in her head.
"I'll finish it." The voice was playful and light, yet with an underlying hint of jealously. Xahssa looked up. Number VII.
