"Got any threes?"
"Go fish."
"Damn."
Xahssa slapped her hand angrilly on the table before reaching over and getting a card from the stack. Nexan considered the cards in her hand carefully before asking, "Any Queens?" Grinning smugly, Xahssa shook her head.
Stifling a smile and trying frown, Nexan settled on an immature pout. "You're evil!"
"You know it." Xahssa sipped her tea while watching Nexan fumbled for a single card in pile. "I think you also know something else. . . About Max and Braxyd. . ." Nexan's fingers froze on the pile as she looked up at II's neutral expression.
She stuttered, wildly thinking up lies to give to Xahssa. "W-well, you see, we were totally planning on telling you, b-but-"
"Wait, YOU knew too?!" Xahssa set down her cards with a loud slap. "How could you Nexan?! You didn't even bother telling me yet you've known this whole time? I mean, I expected this from Max and Braxyd, but this is ridiculous!"
"I'm sorry! I was planning on telling you they were together but-"
Xahssa cut her off with a raised hand and horrified look. "Wait, what?"
"Huh? I thought you were talking about-"
"I don't know what you're talking about."
". . . Then what are you talking about?"
"That's not important! What do you mean 'together'?"
"Together as in dating."
Xahssa looked like she was about to vomit. ". . . How did you know?"
Nexan smiled grimly. "They weren't too secretive about it to be honest. Especially Braxyd."
Biting her lip, Xahssa looked at Nexan. "You don't get what this means, do you?"
"Well, no. It's harmless, really, and I'm sure it's only a minor thing."
Xahssa shook her head. "No, no. Think of what Braxyd is."
". . . A Nobody?" Nexan looked utterly confused.
"And what do Nobodies lack?"
Realization dawned on Nexan's face. "A heart."
They both looked nervous. Xahssa's old habit slipped in and she raised her fingers to her teeth. Nexan spoke first, looking thoughtful, all traces of nervousness gone. "Well. Maybe Braxyd is. . . different. Like Max." They stared at each other, thinking it through.
"Hmm. Probably. After all, they did have similar programming. Maybe this isn't so weird after all. They must have some shared traits." Xahssa nodded to herself, her own words reassuring her. "Yeah. . . This isn't weird." They both looked calmed once more.
Fingering the cards, Nexan said softly with a small smile.
"Yeah. Maybe this isn't bad. And to think; Braxyd and Max. Together."
It sounded odd out in the open. And funny. She couldn't help herself. A snort escaped her before she could prevent it. Then the giggles fell after. Xahssa started laughing uncontrollably. "T-together! HA! Ha, ha! Oh my God! This is- hic- hilarious!"
Nexan looked at the pathetic Nobody that laughing hysterically in her seat, with some sort of pity. Xahssa's hiccups impaired her talking, and soon she was sitting normally with her breath coming out in short pants. "S-sorry. Looks like I'll have to get used to that. Hm. Braxyd. . . Max. . . Ha. Tch." And the giggles returned.
Rolling her eyes, Nexan slapped Xahssa upside the head and said, "God! Get ahold of yourself II." Once Nexan deemed Xahssa normal, albiet more amused than before, they returned to their game of Go Fish.
"So what were you going to bring up earlier?" Nexan inquired, genuinely interested.
All traces of former amusement vanished on Xahssa's face. "Braxyd lied. To us. At the meeting." Each short sentence made the Superior more and more consfused. "What? How?"
Shrugging, Xahssa replied, "I don't know. I didn't hear all of it. And they didn't explain."
"How'd you hear of it?" Their game was now completely forgotten.
"I was behind Daxjorn when they started talking. It confused me and I tried to confront both of them with the subject but they blew me off. I don't know what's up. Do you think you could find out?"
Nexan sighed. "I don't know. I'll try, but there's a lot going on. I myself don't even know what's going on. It'd be so much easier if we just stuck with our original goal; destroying Kingdom Hearts."
