In which comfort comes from an unexpected place

I had been there a while. It was starting to get dark. They were probably looking for me. The Organization. I was sitting where me and Raven used to play when we were little. It had been months since I had come back to even check on her. Today I had not only lost my best friend, but I had learned that my first friend from the Organization was the reason I was even there in the first place. We really are monsters.
I heard a portal open behind me and someone step out. I wasn't in the mood. "What have you come to force me back. I'm not going."
"You don't even want to know whats to become of her. Some best friend you are." Xahssa should have known. And she hit me where it hurt. Or should have.
"That thing isn't my best friend. Its just a monster who looks like her."
"You know it wasn't Max's fault. The first time, or the second. It was only a matter of time until she joined us anyway."
"What do you mean."
"The darkness. It just, its to much for her to handle. She lost control. You becoming one of us was a good mistake. This time, well, we needed her to join. And it just happened. Before we even had a chance to warn you." Now I was angry. And mad at the wrong person. It really wasn't Max's fault. "besides, you consider yourself a person, what would be different about Xarven?"
"Xarven? So that's her new name?"
"Yeah. I know Max is pretty upset about you being mad at her. She is trying really hard to control the darkness."
"I suppose your right. I should at least talk to them. BOTH of them. She was my best friend and its still her body. And Max was the first person to welcome me. Why would you do this Xahssa?"
"I told you, I consider us friends." You mean her being nice lasts more than once?! Something was going right today.
"Well thanks. For everything." And with that I disapeared into a portal. Leaving Radiant Garden far behind.
