I strode into the kitchen. I was looking for answers and I knew just who would have them. Xahssa. I may not be the best of friends with her, but she would have answers about Max for sure.
"Where is she?" I said as I approached the table where Xahssa was sitting eating toast.
"Where's who?" she asked like she honestly had no idea.
"Max. No one else knows where she is. But my guess is that you and Nexan do."
         "Seycax, we're friends, right?"
"Not really. More like friendly acquaintances."
"Well, I like to think of us as friends." That should have been my first clue something was off.
"Okay, sure, whatever. Just tell me where Max is. I'm worried about her. She's been acting...off lately."
"Friends keep other friends secrets right?"
         "Yeah?"
"Well, Max decided she wanted to take a little vacation and didn't want anyone to worry about her. She hasn't been feeling that well lately. You should know you to have been getting pretty close."
"Yeah, that's why I've been a little worried about her." Now I was looking closely for signs that Xahssa was lying we hadn't always had the nicest history. But I couldn't find anything. So she had to be telling the truth. Right?
"If you see anyone I want you to spread that along, I wouldn't want anyone else to worry about her."
As I turned to go, Xahssa called," Wait, why don't you stay and we'll talk. I'll even make you toast."
I really don't care for toast, but Xahssa was attempting to be nice I could too. "Sure, I'd like that."
As got up and started making the toast, Xahssa said something I considered odd.
"So, you're not going to say anything to Nyxick, Right?"
        "About what?"
        "About Max's "Problem"."
"Why? He's one of us. Why shouldn't he know?"
"Well, he's just so young, you know? He may not take it as well as us."
"Oh. Yeah, I guess. My brother used to do the same thing. I hated it. But I knew he was right to when I eventually found out."
"Good. All finished." She said turning around with the toast. As she set it down in front of me, she did something odd. She smiled at me. "I'm glad we are finally getting along."
"Yeah, Me too." It looked like I was finally getting along with the Orgainization. All was good. For now.
